Govt contacts 2 PHC judges for reappointment

PESHAWAR: The federal government has initiated contacts with sacked judges of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) for their reappointment, sources familiar with the developments told Daily Times.
The move coincides with the reappointment of eight sacked judges of the Sindh High Court on August 27 and four of the Lahore High Court on August 30.
Sources close to the judges said the federal government had contacted Justice Shahjehan Yousafzai and Justice Dost Muhammad Khan in the last three or four weeks, for reappointment.
Sacked chief justice Tariq Parvez Khan and Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan are likely to be restored subsequently.
The sources said Justice Shahjehan – if he agrees – would be made the PHC chief justice. He was the second most senior PHC judge when he declined to take oath under the PCO. Justice Yousafzai’s son, a lawyer, said his father had been contacted two weeks ago but he declined the offer.
